On January 12th, 2022, the Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University organized a workshop under the title of ‘Medical Emergencies at Dental Office’.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Farman Shekhani, B.D.S, F.K.B.M.S, Oral and maxillofacial specialist. It was sponsored by Pharma International Company, and a total of 100 people, including faculty staff and dentists from outside the university, attended the workshop.
The objectives of the event were to enable the participants to have a better understanding for the medical risk assessment of their patients, recognize the important signs and symptoms to look for in order to help to diagnose each emergency, to respond effectively and safely to a medical emergency, and to enable them to understand how to avoid the medical complications, in addition to knowing the recommended doses of drugs and routes of administration.
The workshop simplified preparation procedures for medical emergencies in the dental office by having an emergency action plan in place, recognizing and managing complications due to systemic diseases, in addition to explaining the best methods of management.
