Shayan: The Medical Analysis Department of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Tishk International University (TIU) organized the CatVax National Workshop and Community Project on May 12th, 2024. The event featured discussions on important topics related to feline immunization and animal welfare. Distinguished attendees included the Head of the Board of Trustees, Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih; the President of TIU, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi; the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Prof. Dr. Faiq Hussain; and the Head of the Medical Analysis Department, Dr. Tola Faraj.
Dr. Sulaiman Tammer, a veterinarian and Director of the Kurdistan Organization for Animal Rights Protection, addressed the audience on the importance of animal rights, emphasizing the critical role of cat vaccination and the need for responsible pet ownership. His presentation sparked meaningful discussions among participants and inspired many to adopt more compassionate and responsible behaviors toward their pets and the broader animal community.
Dr. Hemdad Hawez, Assistant Professor and Laboratory Manager at Mihrabani Hospital, and part-time lecturer in the Medical Analysis Department at TIU, gave a presentation on parasites commonly found in cats, particularly Toxoplasma gondii, and its potential transmission to humans. He highlighted the importance of being aware of the risks associated with cat ownership and urged owners to take necessary precautions to minimize the spread of zoonotic diseases.
After the workshop, a veterinary team vaccinated the cats of Tishk International University, protecting them from infectious diseases. The event was highly successful, raising public awareness about cat immunization, animal welfare, and responsible pet care. The national workshop and community project demonstrate the ongoing commitment of the Medical Analysis Department to promoting health and well-being.
