Tishk International University (TIU) continues to strengthen its global presence through strategic academic initiatives and international partnerships. Between August 2024 and March 2025, TIU signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with prestigious universities worldwide, fostering student exchanges, faculty collaboration, and research opportunities.
In October 2023, TIU launched its student exchange program by sending five engineering students to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. This initiative provided students with an enriching academic and cultural experience, enhancing their professional growth.
In November 2024, TIU proudly represented Iraq at the International Association of Universities (IAU) Conference in Tokyo, Japan. The event brought together over 400 university leaders from 85 countries, allowing TIU to engage in discussions on the future of higher education and global academic collaboration.
Expanding its international academic network, TIU signed MoUs with Islamic Azad University in Iran, Nusa Putra University in Indonesia, and Alfa University College in Malaysia, broadening its programs in Engineering, Humanities, Business, and Multimedia. Additionally, an agreement with the University of Dundee in Scotland reinforced research excellence and multidisciplinary studies.
In December 2024, TIU advanced its student exchange programs by formalizing agreements with UTM and Vistula University in Poland. These partnerships will allow students to study abroad, with UTM accepting five students per term and Vistula University hosting two per term. Furthermore, TIU is working with Vistula University to develop online education programs, expanding access to high-quality learning.
In early 2025, TIU welcomed new students from Jordan and Egypt, marking the first enrollment of Jordanian students since the university’s establishment in 2003. To facilitate their transition, TIU offers affordable housing, a 50% tuition discount, and guided tours of Erbil’s cultural and commercial sites.
From February 17-20, 2025, TIU participated in the 22nd International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals, and Devices (SSD’25) in Tunisia. Led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih and Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, TIU contributed 11 of Iraq’s 29 research papers, actively engaging in discussions on technological advancements and academic innovation. The event featured 14 keynote lectures and a PhD Student Competition, where TIU played a key role in evaluating top research contributions.
With these initiatives, TIU remains committed to academic excellence, international collaboration, and global engagement. As SSD’25 concluded, Italy was announced as the host for SSD’26, scheduled for March 2026. TIU looks forward to further expanding its academic partnerships and global presence.
