New Session of School Dental Care Project

Shayan: As part of ‘School Dental Care Project’, a group of staff and students from the Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University visited Ishik Gulan Kindergarten and Primary school in Erbil on 1st March.

The project was supervised by the assistants of the Dean of Students Mr. Zhala Tahsin, Dr. Safya Basman, and Director of Social Affairs and Guidance Dr.Zaynab Yalman.

The project aimed to conduct dental checkups for the school students and give them dental home-care instructions. School dental screening aims to identify oral health concerns at an early stage, hence prompting preventive and therapeutic oral healthcare for the children. The project also provides a way for children to have regular access to preventative dental health and a link to additional treatment services.

During the latest session, a total of 177 students were checked by the TIU team in addition to filling case sheets with diagnosis and a treatment plan for each of the students to be treated later at the Dentistry Polyclinic.

The students received gift bags consisting of toothpaste, a toothbrush, a notebook, and, a pen. Information sheets were also given to their parents to work together in maintaining the children’s oral health.

The school manager expressed his pleasure and gratitude for arranging such activities to help kids keep their teeth healthy. In the end, the Faculty of Dentistry’s staff and students received appreciation certificates from the school director. The event was sponsored by Bright Dent Company.
