ASIIN Online Visit for Medical Analysis, Nursing, and Mechatronics Engineering Programs Accreditation

As a part of the Program Accreditation Procedure for Medical Analysis, Nursing, and Mechatronics Engineering Programs (MED, NURS & MECH) at Tishk International University (TIU), an expert team carried out an online visit on 28th, 29th, and 30th November and 1st December of 2022.

The journey started with signing a contract with ASIIN which is a German accreditation agency specialized in accrediting degree programs from the fields of Engineering, Informatics/Computer Science, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels. ASSIN is a leader accreditation body nationally and internationally in the accreditation of programs and has accreted more than 5519 study programs in more than 294 Institutions at 43 Countries around the world.

The contract was followed by preparing a Self-evaluation Report which addressed many major aspects in the educational system such as: the Content of the Program, Organization of the Program, Management and Resources, Student Support, Staff Support, Quality Management, Internationalization, and others.

Beside the report, other supplementary material was also prepared and submitted to the Peer Review Panel as well as a virtual Base-room for records inspection.

The documentations preparation was followed by an online visit which aimed at assessing the accuracy of the Self Study, evaluating the effectiveness of the program, and making recommendations to assist MED, NURS, and MECH in continued improvement. The experts had a professional and distinguished performance. They showed much knowledge and expertise during the visit.

The Peer Review Panel in MED and NURS visit was composed of Prof. Dr. Oliver Mueller, University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern, Dr. Amir Mohsenpour, Medical Doctor at Kassel, and Jonas Guenther, University of Cologne, student. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Andrea Karen, a Project Manager at ASIIN.

While for MECH visit, the Peer Review Panel was composed of Dr. Iring Wasser, the Managing Director of ASIIN, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Rappl, Deggendorf Institute of Technology, Prof. Dr. sc. techn. Harald Loose, Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences, Eng. Huner Majeed, Cihan Motors, and Sufyan Muhammed Abid, Student at University of Mosul.

In the visit, 6 meetings were held, the team interviewed the Dean of Medical Analysis, Nursing, and Engineering Faculties along with the Heads of all the Departments mentioned, the Teaching and Research Staff at MED, NURS, and MECH, some Students and Alumni, Market Partners, and Representatives of the TIU Presidency.

TIU, and particularly MED, NURS, and MECH, look forward to implementing the experts’ suggestions and to doing the necessary actions to the weak points they addressed. We are pretty sure that this will improve and streamline the quality of education and research in the programs.

The International Accreditation brings a wide variety of benefits to both students and to institutions by; raising the profile of learning and teaching of the university and demonstrating to students a measurable commitment to the quality of teaching.

The methods and criteria of evaluation applied by ASIIN are rooted in the common European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. ASIIN is a member of The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR).
